Needle & Pin Polishing
Fast, damage-free polishing for needles, pins and other fine metal parts
Needles, pins and thin precision parts are finished on a magnetic polishing machine, where a rotating magnetic field drives fine stainless steel pins across the workpiece in a water and brightener bath. Because the abrasive action is magnetic rather than mechanical pressure, slender parts are deburred, de-oxidised and brightened without bending, and tips keep their geometry.
Thin parts are the hardest thing to finish by hand: tumbling bends them, belts snap tips, and manual buffing is impossibly slow at volume. Magnetic pin polishing solves this because nothing clamps or presses the part — the pins flow around it.
Precinova supplies automatic and reversible magnetic polishing machines suited to needle, pin, shaft and fastener work, with installation and training from Ambala, Haryana.

Typical parts
Shops use these machines for slender and small-diameter components where hand finishing is uneconomic:
- Needles and pins requiring burr-free tips and a bright surface
- Dowel pins, split pins and shafts after grinding or cutting
- Small fasteners and turned parts with thread and cross-hole burrs
- Springs and wire-formed parts needing oxide removal
- Thin-walled tubes and sleeves where internal cleaning matters
Why magnetic polishing suits slender parts
Forward and reverse magnetic field timing keeps pins circulating in both directions, so they work all sides of a needle evenly instead of packing against one face. The part is never gripped, so there is no bending load. Running wet with brightener means heat is carried away and the finish comes out clean rather than compound-loaded.
For continuous output, an automatic machine handles loading and unloading so an operator is not tied to the cycle; reversible models suit shops that switch part types through the day.
Getting the pin size right
Pin selection is the whole game on fine work. Pins must be small enough to enter the smallest feature on the part yet long enough to carry energy. We confirm this on your actual components during the sample trial, and supply the matching magnetic pin grade with the machine.

Frequently asked questions
Will magnetic polishing bend needles or thin pins?
No. The part is never clamped or pressed — fine stainless steel pins are driven magnetically around it at low contact force, so slender parts keep their straightness and tip geometry.
Can it polish the inside of tubes and holes?
Yes, provided the magnetic pins are small enough to enter the bore. Internal hole polishing and cleaning is one of the main reasons shops choose this process over buffing.
Which materials can be processed?
Stainless steel, titanium, brass, copper, aluminium and zinc alloy are all standard. Material and part geometry together set the pin size and cycle time.
Do you run a trial before quoting?
Yes. Send or bring sample parts and we run them at our Ambala facility to establish pin size, brightener dosing and cycle time, then quote the machine that matches your output.

Magnetic Pin
The magnetic steel needle is made of a mixture of special metal materials and 304 stainless steel, offering higher wear resistance and bounce. Specifications range from 0.2mm to 2.0mm diameter and 2mm to 20mm length, with hundreds of models available. The thicker the needle, the stronger the polishing strength. For stainless steel and hard parts, use needles above 0.8mm diameter. For copper and aluminum (soft materials), use needles below 0.8mm. Generally, 5mm long steel needles are recommended for polishing.
